It's normal for babies to strain when pooing, and sometimes their faces turn red. But if baby isn't going regularly enough (under 8 weeks should be pooing every 2-3 days) or they're finding it distressing when they try to poo it could be a sign your baby is constipated.

Signs of constipation:

  • Pooing fewer than 3 times a week
  • Has hard, pebble-like stools
  • Smelly wind and poo
  • Has a firm tummy

We’ve written a new parent's guide on baby poo here.

We do stock both a Goat milk formula range and a Comfort Milk that may be helpful to your little one but would recommend discussing with your GP before switching formulas.

For more information on constipation check out the NHS website here.
